Single ticket prices

When selling tickets, Matkahuolto applies the price lists and discount terms reported by bus operators.

Additional charges applied by bus operators

Some bus operators may charge an extra fee for transporting bulky items such as a pram or a bicycle. The extra charge varies from operator to operator and is paid to the driver. Usually the payment is made in cash. Some buses also accept debit and credit cards. Check the amount of the extra charge with the bus operator in advance.

Discounts

When selling tickets, Matkahuolto applies the discount terms reported by bus operators. The card entitling to the discount must always be presented when purchasing the ticket and when boarding the bus.

Students

Students are eligible for a discount upon showing a student card with the Matkahuolto logo printed on the card. Students are eligible for a discount upon presentation of an electric student card application, where Matkahuolto's logo is visible. 

Children and youth

Discount is bound to age. You can find fare for children and for youth from timetable search by pressing the price under "Price" column. The age range can be seen by pressing the round i-icon next to the price.

Pensioners

Pensioners are entitled to a discount upon presentation of a Social Insurance Institute Kela card with a photo and a Matkahuolto, VR or Finnair logo printed on it, the cardboard Pensioner Card issued by Kela, or the employment pension card issued by a Finnish employment pension insurance company. Any card without a photo must be accompanied by a driving license, passport or police-issued personal ID card. Persons aged 65 or older are entitled to a pensioners' discount upon presentation of a driving license, passport or police-issued personal ID card.

Groups

Possible discount for groups is noticed when there is three people or more in a group and at least one of the members of the group travels with a ticket with adult's fare. Person travelling with Saver Ticket is not counted as part of the group.

Return ticket

If you you use same bus operator's bus on a round-trip you may get a discount for your return ticket. The amount of the discount varies between bus operators.

Conscripts

Conscripts are entitled to the discount upon presentation of the conscript card.

Individuals completing non-military national service

The discount is granted upon presentation of the non-military national service card.

Members of the press

Members of the press are entitled to the discount upon presentation of a press card.
