We need to bring down emissions from transport in Finland – and Matkahuolto has a big role to play in it
Sustainability is at the core of Matkahuolto’s operations. Sustainability cuts across our entire organisation and is seamlessly integrated into our everyday practices. Our work is guided by our Sustainability Programme, which was launched in 2020 and updated in autumn 2024.
We promote sustainable parcel and digital transport services and develop our sustainability work in close cooperation with our employees and partners. The focus of our parcel services is on seamless cooperation with our nationwide partner network and on our environmentally friendly transport solutions. Together with transport operators, we have been promoting public transport for 90 years.
Our goal is to halve emissions from all our operations and be carbon neutral by 2030.

Carbon-neutral transport contributes to Matkahuolto’s ambitious climate targets
Carbon-neutral parcel transport supports our emission reduction targets, but we do not count the offset emissions as part of our own emission reductions. We are offsetting our emissions because we want to offer our customers environmentally friendly transport now, when we are still in the process of moving away from fossil fuels.
We updated our Sustainability Programme
We have updated our Sustainability Programme based on a double materiality assessment in line with EU sustainability legislation. The update will keep our Sustainability Programme aligned with stakeholder expectations and changes in our operating environment.
We achieved a Bronze Medal in EcoVadis assessment
We have received a Bronze Medal in our first EcoVadis assessment. EcoVadis evaluated our sustainability efforts as good in the areas of labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. In the environment category, we even reached an advanced level. Thirty-five percent of the assessed companies achieve a Bronze Medal.
