Consumers see Matkahuolto at the most sustainable parcel delivery and logistics brand
In the 2023 Sustainable Brand Index study, Finnish consumers chose Matkahuolto as the most sustainable Parcels & Logistics brand in Finland. The study is based on consumer perceptions and assessments of brand sustainability.
“It is a great honour for us to receive this recognition for the second time, especially because the choice was made by consumers. It is a pleasure to see that the contribution of Matkahuolto’s entire staff in making the goals of our sustainability programme part of our daily operations has been reflected to consumers both in customer encounters and in communication, and thus receives the praise it deserves”, says Jaana Korkiakoski, Head of Corporate Sustainability at Matkahuolto.
On the road to carbon neutrality as outlined in our sustainability programme
In 2020, Matkahuolto conducted a materiality analysis in cooperation with stakeholders to build a sustainability programme. Matkahuolto’s first comprehensive sustainability programme was completed in January 2021. The programme is made up of four sustainability themes:
We look after our employees
We are an attractive partner and service provider
We generate positive environmental impacts
Our activities benefit society at large
“At Matkahuolto, we have set ambitious goals for our climate work, in line with the Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative. Our climate roadmap sets out concrete emission reduction goals and measures to achieve our objectives. In transport and logistics, we have a special responsibility to combat climate change,” Korkiakoski sums up.
We strive to achieve the goals we set through concrete actions. For example, we have offered our customers 100% carbon-neutral parcel services since 2022. In 2023, we will continue our long-term sustainability work by switching to renewable diesel in our own vehicles and to green electricity in our own offices and terminals.

About the Sustainable Brand Index study
The Sustainable Brand Index, Europe’s largest brand study focusing on sustainability, explores how sustainable consumers perceive different brands and why. The methodology of the Sustainable Brand Index is based on micro and macro trends, consumer behaviour and brand analysis. Brands are selected for the study based on activity in the domestic market, turnover and market share, as well as their recognition. The study covers nearly 1,600 brands, 36 industries and 80,000 consumers in eight countries.
The Sustainable Brand Index study is based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and takes into account social and environmental sustainability. In Finland, the survey has been carried out since 2013 by the Swedish company SB Insight AB. You can find more information on the results of the Finnish Sustainable Brand Index here.
