Finland’s most valued parcel brand Matkahuolto is growing in Sweden
Matkahuolto, the second largest parcel service company in Finland, is looking to strengthen its position within Swedish e-commerce. With co-operation already confirmed with large online actors such as Elgiganten and Adlibris, Matkahuolto aspires to be the number one partner for deliveries between Sweden and Finland. Matkahuolto has been voted as the most valued parcel brand by consumers in Finland for ten years running.
Matkahuolto is a modern service company and has been operating in Finland for 90 years. As a part of Matkahuolto’s strategy, the company is looking to grow internationally with Sweden as a key market. Large Swedish e-commerce actors such as Adlibris and Elgiganten as well as established consumer brands such as Matsmart and Proteinbolaget have already selected Matkahuolto for their deliveries from Sweden to Finland, and several discussions for new partnerships are ongoing. In Sweden, Matkahuolto deliveries are done in partnership with Bring.
“We are excited to accelerate our growth in Sweden as e-commerce between countries continues to grow. We already have a lot of international business where we deliver packages from all over the world to customers in Finland. Now, we wish to offer also Swedish online stores parcel services most valued and trusted by Finnish consumers. I am sure that our strong brand and first-class service will make Matkahuolto an obvious first choice for Swedish brands delivering to Finland”, says Kati Nevalainen, Director, Parcel Services.
“We were looking for a partner in the Finnish market known for reliability, customer satisfaction, clear communication and punctual deliveries. After six months of experience, I can say that Matkahuolto’s offer and service have exceeded our expectations. Matkahuolto is a customer-oriented and flexible partner that understands our needs, and also our customers appreciate this transport option” says Nicklas Törnqvist, Supply Chain Manager, Adlibris.
Currently Matkahuolto transports 20 million parcels annually and had a turnover of EUR 96,6 million in 2022. During the current five-year strategy period, Matkahuolto is seeking to increase its turnover to EUR 150 million by 2027 by investing additional EUR 25 million in customer experience and service development. Among the latest investments is a new logistic center in Turku, Finland which will be fully operational this spring, enabling international growth and first-class service in the form of even faster deliveries.
Matkahuolto has set ambitious climate goals that align with the Paris Climate Agreement and aspires to be carbon neutral by 2030. For instance, 86 percent of Matkahuolto’s domestic trunk transport kilometrage are driven with renewable fuels. Steps have also been taken in digital services where Matkahuolto succeeded in reducing its carbon footprint by up to 83 percent. Finnish consumers also see Matkahuolto as the most sustainable parcel delivery brand, as per the Sustainable Brand Index 2023.
Matkahuolto will also be present at D-Congress in Göteborg on 6-7 March, along with a brand visibility campaign both on-site and online.
